Gradient Lips | A Dark Mysterious Version & A Soft Natural Version

I've been taking a liking to gradient lips recently. I've seen very soft gradient lips on many Korean models and thought it was really pretty. I then searched Google images to see if I could find more pictures of my new found interest.
Dark Mysterious Gradient Lips
I found many beautifully painted lips, some with rainbow gradation, others with two to three tones only. I was definitely too lazy to attempt those crazy colours but when searching Youtube, I found this video from a blogger who goes by the name Nymphette. Thought it was a perfect, daring look to attempt!
I know black eyeliner was used in her video but I had this older, now discontinued blue eyeliner from Shiseido and I thought I'd give that a crack. Not too bad for my first attempt right? Hehe ok, honestly look at the top lip. The lining is horrible!! But I tried.. Even on a daily basis, I hardly ever wear dark colours on my lips so I never have the need to line my lips. It was definitely challenging. I'd much rather doing someone elses haha.
I only used two colours to achieve this look. I got the purple effect by blending out the blue with a lip brush and also I would recommend to use some lip balm as a base for easier blending! I've used BURT'S BEES Beeswax Lip Balm that is picured in the second product photo.
(Also a little off topic but the above and below photo as well as the second product photo was taken on my new iphone 4S! How amazing is the quality for a phone cam?! )
SHISEIDO Perfect Rouge in RS320 and the discontinued blue eyeliner.

Soft Natural Gradient Lips
Here is the softer version :) Something I can dare to wear out in public. I think I'd only wear the other one if it was a dress up or a special event.
Here I used the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Calliope & cute BENEFIT Posietint (poppy-pink tinted lip & cheek stain) sample. I have the full size of the rose tint and seriously fell in love with lip tints!
To match my pink based coral lips, I wore the below outfit. I seldom wear orange but thought it was a perfect opportunity to wear some colour.
The hair was still black because this post has been in my drafts for a while. Oops. A *bad blogger* moment.. :)p
Hope you enjoyed this somewhat different post and thank you to everyone for taking the time to read! (Or skim through hehe)

Tomorrow, I will be attending the Melbourne Beauty Blogger Event (MBBE) !! Stay tuned for more photos and fun with other bloggers :D I will try to post an outfit photo as well as my FOTD.

In the meantime I have to get some sort of beauty sleep!! Gosh it's already past 1am, seriously hate my bad habits. *night owl*

And in these pics I haven't used the bumpit thing. It's all the pull hair with fingers trick hahah. Or pure lazy trick :)

  31. gradient lips, now who wouldn't want to pucker up to kiss that? ^______^ I've never looked too much into getting lipstick since it always seems to wear off when I eat or drink things but gawwwwwd you make it look so gooood >3< But I'm pretty sure nowadays there are good lipsticks around that actually stay on without smearing off everywhere and onto things. ^^

  32. Oops sorry for the late reply!

I actually started out by thinking the exact same thing! I have many more lip glosses and still prefer it over lip stick but I have some hybrid lipstick/glosses that are amazing:) Def more modern and awesome texture too! x
